"My boyfriend and I were walking out of Arbor View as he showed me a
sign and told me how ridiculous it was that people would remember the
9/11 crisis by rapping about it. Being the grammar and spelling nazi
that I am, I looked a little closer and proceeded to burst into serious
laughter. In the Campus Center Ballroom at 6:00 on September 24th,
there would be "Performances by the most Talented...raping." Yes, I
believe I'd remember the number 911 in case of Talented (with a capital
T) rape, too. Spelling is important, students of UWG."

I suppose raping, by nature, is normally pretty free-style.
ReplyDeleteAt least until you find your rhythm.
ReplyDeleteRemembrance is misspelled too.
ReplyDeleteThis just goes to show that "rapers" are idiots and deserve no spot-light treatments. But seriously, rapping is pointless and is a blatant mockery to poetry...not to mention all of the beats along with the songs sound the same.
ReplyDeleteWow, I like how completely out of left field that last comment was. Well I just wanna know where you go to find a talented raper. And what qualifies you to be a talented raper? Is their a greating system of how well you raped someone?
ReplyDeleteWow, that was definitely "grading" system.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteSomething like this happened last year. In the Mass Comm hallway, somebody put up an announcement for a gathering at "The Boarder" which annoyed the heck out of me. It's The Border.... duh!!
ReplyDeleteAs the president of the Free Verse Organization, it IS my responsibility to make it known that I did NOT authorize the creation of this poster, nor did it ever get to my eyes for review. This is the first time I knew about this poster, and I must admit - this is a fail. Not on the part of Free Verse, but on the person who wrote that poster.
ReplyDelete@Aggrivated - Music is music. Like what you will.
@Khalil
ReplyDeleteI've personally been a fan of Free Verse for years and still am. I think it's obvious that the creator of this flier clearly intended to write "Rapping", but the rape typo was so humorous that we felt the need to share it.
Generally out policy on typos is to overlook them because everyone makes them, even us here at UWG Fail, unless they are overly humorous (such as this case) or it's a misspelling on a sign or shirt or something that the university has spent our money on.

ReplyDeleteas a 'rapper' of sorts i can tell you thats what ya get when ya listen to the radio... and when you do so its the same with every genre (rock, country, pop (compare kelly clarkson's Already Gone and beyonce's Halo... already gone just has sleigh bells jingling)... its true for all of em.... and just like other musical genres there are various forms of rap, story rap being my fav because its a story not just rhyming whatever one can.... dont let kanye and weezy be your only for a judgement for a style of music... im just sayin.
Okay, instead of turning this into a rap debate, can we please take a moment to think about how the funny is ruined by the long-ass explanation underneath the picture?
ReplyDeleteInstead of including a tl;dr ("too long; don't read") explanation of why it's supposed to be funny, just circle it and write in "fail." You ruin the joke by explaining it, guys. I would've laughed harder had I not had to read someone's opinionated comment about spelling and how you shouldn't celebrate 911 by rapping (thanks, Grammar Nazi Girl, you are completely unfunny).
no means yes and yes means anal
ReplyDeleteWhen we post comments it is for two purposes.
ReplyDelete1) To give context to the picture and situation.
2) To give the submitter's reaction to the pic.
If you feel that the comments take away from the pictures, then simply don't read them. You can always click on the image and view it by itself.
The goal of this site is not just to provide laughs for our users, but also to humorously criticize the school and its students and organizations and to provide an open forum where they can be discussed and commented on.
"to humorously criticize" -- but... if it's not really humorous, aren't you not meeting your goal?
ReplyDeleteI respect the open forum thing, however.
This comment in particular was written by the submitter, not us.
ReplyDeleteI actually thought it was funnier with the explanation... I giggled throughout the entire description. *sigh* I miss my UWG days.
ReplyDeletehonestly, instead of whining about how the picture loses hilarity points due to the comments, just shut up and enjoy it. obviously you're overthinking things.
