ReplyDeleteIt not so much that the internet speed is bad everywhere on campus (but trust me, it's bad in a lot of places, we've done the test in a lot of dorms), but the fact that the internet speed is that slow ANYWHERE on campus.
ReplyDeleteWell somehow this has to be addressed. I'm tired of ITS lieing to everyone on campus about why it is that they internet is so slow. They blame it on illegal downloaders but in truth they got hacked this summer and their resonce to to break down internet communication on campus to say their own asses!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI live in the People's Republic of China where our connection is slow as rickshaw in afternoon traffic du to everything running through government's filters. Luckily I am fortunate enough to be able to access UWG Fail through shady Russian proxy so that I can get lolz from American university system.

Supposedly they're working on a "fix" for it (I've been hearing that tune for a couple years now) which should be ready in "a couple weeks," sort of like how they were going to upgrade the e-mail over Fall break. I say get rid of ITS and outsource the whole thing to Google.

ReplyDeletecactus, ping is basically the time it takes one computer to recieve data another sent... the lower the ping (from the sender) the better...
ReplyDeleteThis just goes to show that all of the students on campus need to have a sit-in and demand either that they make the internet run as fast as they advertise or give us our $55 back that we pay for our technology fee. I really hope there's an investigation of UWG and all of it's staff one of these days...
ReplyDeleteSo last night I was on Pandora trying to listen to a song and a message popped up saying that it needed at least 80 kbps to stream the song and that I was currently getting THREE, count them, THREE kbps. And yeah, this if from Tyus as well. FAIL.

I lived in Arborview a few years ago and I had the fastest internet that ive ever had in my life. I guess shit just went downhill.
